Standing on Solid Ground: Finding Your Way Theologically

Watch for new dates in early spring 2013

We are at a moment in history when many people of faith are torn. They may wish to affirm gay and transgender (LGBT) people but feel that doing so flies in the face of everything they’ve been taught.

Dr. Hopson will provide theological grounding for the discussion and celebration of our human sexuality, explore the impact of isolating and marginalizing some in our flock, and take a careful look at sacred texts and our use of texts to empower people and expand God’s justice in the world.

Hosted by Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Haggray, Senior Pastor
The First Baptist Church of the City of Washington D.C.

Knowledge Is Power: What You Need to Know About Sexuality and Gender

Watch for new dates in early spring 2013

Although all human beings are sexual, so much mystery and ignorance surround this gift that many people spend their entire lives confused about their own sexuality and the sexuality of others.

  • What makes females different from males?
  • Why are some people attracted to the other gender, some to the same gender, and some to both?
  • Can people really be “born into the wrong body”?
  • What impact do our attitudes, values, feelings, and beliefs have on our experience of our own sexuality and the sexuality of others?

Wayne Pawlowski and Pamela Wilson will explore sexuality in all of its richness, complexity and diversity—including scientific, biological, sociological, historical, cultural and personal perspectives—providing ample time for questions and discussion.

Washington, DC location to be announced.
